As it is pretty late I am just going to post pictures and write not so detail subtitles.

next day we went to 6 Flags. Mom went on a couple rides which was pretty impressive except that she threw up on the 2nd one....still quite the feat.

After a few rides Batman was the one that made me sick. It could have been the culmination of the 2 or 3 rides before it, but this was the one that made me slightly lightheaded.

I had plans to record this, but I didn't want to risk losing my phone.

Ending our day at 6 Flags we just went back to the hotel and rested...oh had some more Yoshinoya (can't get enough of that stuff).

THAI TOWN...well technically like 7 blocks away from actual THAI town. We decided to go to the original Yai's in THAI town...food was delicious.

Family vacation to California….start!
flight takes off at 6.30am Thanks to DoHS/TSA we get to wake up super early to make it on time.
~4.30am

Waiting for our flight I decided to check my camera to make sure it was functioning and had a CF card. I would probably RAGE if after taking multiple photographs I find that I had not charged the batteries and had no memory card.

not exactly our plane, but very similar. Speaking with my parents I found that we were to use Alaska Airlines; this was wonderful news as they are the sponsors of the Portland Timbers. Alaska Airlines has a promotion for anyone wearing a jersey they would get priority seating; I wanted to take advantage of this wonderful benefit of supporting my team. It turns out we were in fact flying Horizon, the ugly step sister of Alaska Airlines, who I found did not have this special "perk." I was devastated.

Feeling pretty bummed the whole flight, I got a nice surprise waiting after disembarked from our flight. There it was glimmering in the SF sun.
I was reminded, though it would have been nice to have priority seating, Im not a fan because of these "perks" PTFC! RCTID!

Currently Im stuck in SF as our flight is delayed. If I take more pictures between now and then I will update this post.

Finally arrived in LA…it smells wonderful….
After getting the rental, we had to stop by a family friend's to say hello and take care of some business.
Sam and I left our parents and I drove to the hotel. Driving in LA is totally awesome and not at all a parking lot.

After crashing in the hotel for a bit we got hungry and so We went in search of Yoshinoya

Mission Accomplished!

Next door we found this restaurant….

They had the worst service ever. It took about 10min to get us 8 biscuits and 2 chicken sandwiches. To make matters worse this is what the sandwich looked like.

Church's is an EPIC FAIL. I will give it another chance latter down the road but, give me chick-fil-a any day!

well that concludes day one. Im pretty sure I will have nothing new to report as it is now getting late and I doubt we will go out doing anything.

So after many attempts at trying to keep this blog updated…I make no promises.

photos will be up when I feel like it so deal with it.

I do have a little trip to CA this week so definitely some photos are on its way.
This post serves a dual purpose of also testing a new offline blog app for Mac.

As I will be a stereotypical tourist and go to Disneyland I set a silly little challenge for myself. I will try and pose with as many Disney mascots forcing them to hold up the "no pity" scarf.

I have no desire to wait in line in the hot sun with little boys and girls just to take pictures, as I have only one day to do this. If I had more than one day I would brave the UV rays and noise of children to accomplish my goal, alas tis not the case.

…so if the opportunity presents itself I will carry the scarf with me in my backpack for when the time comes, when I can get Cinderella to hold up the scarf and say, "PTFC"

So here is just some quick snappy shots of Seattle whilst me and my family accompanied my brother from another mother fritz to the airport to return to Indonesia. If you’re reading this… We miss you! I lose a brother and a photo buddy (a fellow Canonite btw). We brought along a new exchange student for a quick tour of Seattle while we waited for Fritz’s flight and so this is what I could manage with the bitter cold and rain starting to come down.

So I am pretty much failing at keeping this sucker updated, but no one seems to care…well except for maybe Miss. LL yes you know who you are!

To appease LL I shall finally put up some pics.
The coast… oh the Oregon coast. I haven’t been there just to enjoy the beach in awhile…actually ever since i picked up photography i have never been able to fully enjoy the coast. I worry about sand and sea water hitting my lens (which reminds me i need to clean my lens to make sure the sea water does not do vile things to my UV filter) for this reason i cannot bury my feet in the sand, take off my shirt and show off my beach bod, or build sand castles. Tis a fair trade off though when i find fun things to photograph. I find it harder to take candid photographs for 2 reasons. 1) i no haz L-lens so i cannot be at a distance to take said shots. 2) I am a guy. Why is the latter a factor? I will tell you. You see a girl taking pictures of kids and random happenings you think naught of it…but when you see a guy do the same your head screams “CREEPER!” Now i dont know about you but i prefer my face sans purse/fist.

You Oregonians are most familiar with this household name. If you have visited the Oregon coast you know what im talking about.

Had fully intended to sleep until 11am then watch the match USA v England match, but the parental units decided to head off to the couv saturday market and woke me up to tell me their intentions. First off being woken up from a nice Saturday sleep-in is no fun…second I think I was having a cool dream.

So being awake now that mom had burst in yelling “Wanna go to Saturday market?” I thought I might as well since I was up.

Also in honor of the US victory (yes I am considering this a victory) 1-1
I took this at the market not knowing the outcome of the upcoming game. I must have known deep down in my heart I would have a use for it.

Today was such a Portland day. I got up this morning thinking to myself “I think today is going to be awesome!”
Twas so picturesque…a picture perfect Portland day. Im not being sarcastic here I really do enjoy the rain. CRAZINESS! you say?

Numero Uno: I have allergies, and using my most awesome logic the rain keeps down all the nasty stuff that makes my eyes itch and my nose to run.

Numero Dos: When its raining just wear a rain coat or hoodie, and if you’re a fake Portlander or out-of-towner use an umbrella. What can you do when its hot? You cant run around in you skivvies now can you? Well you can, but you might get arrested for indecent exposure. Now only downside to the rain is stupid Portlanders who don’t seem to know how to drive in rain…I mean hello? you live in Portland and you can’t drive in the beautiful liquid sunshine?

I felt like I was going to drown today, but it finally let up and was just cloudy…perfection.
After work I was totally content with just being lazy at home when some friends invited me to go do something. Half of me wanted to stay home and do nothing, but the “get-off-your-bum” half won out.

As always I only post when I have pictures…so here are pictures as promised. I will now try and force myself to bring my soul snatcher whenever and wherever I can.

Glendoveer has a trail going around its course so we took a leisurely stroll there. The trail was nice and squidgy…it did wonders for our shoes.

I thought i would fiddle with an automate feature that adds a watermark…looks kind of tacky.

pretty sure i grossed out a lot of people with a title like that. I think my AP Lit teacher from high school would be proud that i came up with such an awesome hook. I have some explaining to do of course. Yesterday I went to the Starlight parade for the first time in the 16 years that I have lived here in Portland. The only reason I went out this year, battling through the sea of people, was to support a good friend (areyoulaughingtoo.blogspot.com) of mine who was running the starlight run that precedes the parade.

Finally God has given me an opportunity to take out my trusty soul snatcher/photo gun/smile catcher.
Twas a fun experience, stranger body rubbing aside. I had fully intended to post an entry that night, but was way too tired to do it…so here it is a day late.

My blog lives again. I hope to make an entry once a week though I make no promises. My blog seems pointless without pictures so if I don’t have pictures there will be no entry. If I do make an entry sans pictures you can call me out on my “promise” not to make an entry absent pictures. I will most likely laugh at you and say prove it. You will then point to my own blog, after which i will promptly delete this entry and say,

“I don’t know what your talking about. What do you mean it was here a minute ago?”

So this was our spot on 6th and Salmon or Salmon & 6th whatever is correct way of saying it.

Baby shower is a baby shower what is there to know? I have never been to a baby shower that actually had showers…when I say showers I mean precipitation. I’m not saying rain doesn’t fall when there is a baby shower going on, its just I have never been to one outdoors when it was literally raining. There is not much to say so here are a few shots i took. I totally did not take pictures of the couple. I dont know why….I guess I have always been a object oriented photographer (inanimate objects dont complain that they look too fat or blinked in the picture).

The only reason i am writing now is to test out my windows live writer on windows 7.
If it works alright i can streamline my photo uploading, as this is still a photo blog.
Unfortunately i have not been able to take a whole lot of pictures as of late because i was being lazy.

I doubt anybody really cares about my lowly blog so it doesn’t really matter when i get around to posting pics.

.so today was an unexpectedly sunny day. it was only unexpected if you didn't check the weather like me. today's beams of sunshine were not wasted, for today i was on another shoot. im pretty sure hannah has been looking at the forecast for weeks waiting for the elusive UFO in the sky we apparently call the "sun". here follows the products of said project.

So i pretty much edited and gave her the pictures same day, which is like a record for me.

i haven’t been on in awhile as i have been busy with school and have not time for this supposedly addicting hobby. The weather is getting colder and the leaves on the trees are turning. i look outside my window and realize i should be out there taking photos. alas call it “busyness” or just plain laziness, i had never picked up my trusty companion to capture the changing colors this season. So it was a lazy monday no work just about to start my homework when i get a call.

(the follow conversation actually happened, and in no way did i alter any part of the conversation…ok maybe a little)

JN: “Hey man you busy?”

ME: “no, not really wuz crackin?”

JN: “oh you know same deal. yo i wuz wonderin’ if u wantz to be like my personal paparazzi fo’ like me ‘n my girl ”

so i dropz wat i wuz doin’…….ehm excuse me. it seems my street language has somehow crept into my normal paragraphs.
so i dropped what i was doing…. homework can wait. Finally the Canon gods looked down upon me and deemed it necessary for an outside force to urge me to pick up my 40d and shoot.

.why do i torture myself?

i already know i hate hiking and yet i still went. getting nice pictures is all well and good, but when you’re gasping for air half the time its no fun. even little olivia (feet shown) was a trooper while i brought up the rear.

of course i could have made up some excuse about taking pictures and just yelling, “hey…yea i will catch up later, im taking pictures.” instead i opted to become the caboose walking even slower than the love birds (below).

its not a creeper shot, they just happened to be where we were wanting to take the group shot (seen below)

it makes me feel a lot better when im at home reviewing the pictures i took and realizing, “yea i guess it was worth it.” the weather was swell for pictures though the occasional cloud cover was a real bother (what a day to decide to shoot manual). i now must sleep as i am scheduled as a singer tomorrow, or rather in 6ish hours.

so today was my first official wedding photo assist for Adi. now assisting does not mean im an official wedding photographer, im just assisting one. i was simply a pack mule, and perfectly content with that position. it was fun learning from a person with waaay more knowledge and skill than i, and watching him do his thing really got me thinking on how much i still need to learn. even though i was running around most of the time doing his every whim, i was still able to eek out a couple shots here and there. my job as an assistant came first so i wasn’t able to take my time to compose shots i really wanted. at the end of the day it was still a really fun wedding to assist/shoot.

PDX Improv hosted a spontaneous dance event @ Clackamas Town Center today. pretty awesome. i had the privilege of being asked to take some pics! also i met this ridiculously talented photog, whom i am secretly jealous of, also assisting in documenting said event. check out Tim’s stuff here. you’ll have to wait for the official release but here is a sneak peak.

it was bloody tiring, but it was really fun.

going into the wedding and knowing the lighting situation fritz (other photog) and i were getting nervous. we went to pro photo supply and wanted to rent some lenses. of course with our luck all the good lenses were rented out for the weekend. we were in quite a pickle until fritz found another photo supply store with the lenses we so desperately needed just a day before the wedding. THANK YOU GOD!

that being said 85mm f/1.2 and 50mm f/1.2 were my heroes! with 15mm fisheye f/2.8 coming in at a close 2nd.

there is really nothing else to say, but i have a new found respect for professional wedding photographers. to their advantage they have larger wallets so they can purchase higher quality lenses. equipment aside it does take a certain skill to photograph a moment that happens only once in a lifetime.

i pray as i edit i have quality pictures to present to the couple.

i am posting the same night.

what started as a wedding meeting became a surprise.

the plan was just to have a last meeting before the rehearsal….or so maudrey thought.
(because im really lazy i will shorten Marcos and Audrey with “Maudrey”)

so dinner went on as usual

the meeting begins.

photog meeting in the dark. we had the bride and groom in our meeting cuz we cool like that.

this was my hero tonight. without my flash i would not have gotten half the shots i got.

so the trickery begins. we told them that we would take them out for dessert, but the location was a surprise so we need to blind fold them.

i simply couldn’t resist. i tested to see if he was peeking or not.

we pretended to go in the car and told them we would meet them there.

in reality we weren’t going anywhere; we stayed right where we were and decorated.

.upon their return we have them dress up for the occasion.

NOW this is where my flash failed me and ran out of batteries right when they were getting their blindfolds off. i pray this does not happen when im taking the actual wedding pic. because of the battery incident i missed the reveal, but i got right back in the game with fresh batteries.

a game of dress up. boys do the groom and ladies do the bride. as you can see the boys should totally apply for a designer position on America’s next top model.

now every wedding needs a pastor. so here we have a rabbi-priest-imam. so in other words a radically cheap suicidal kosher man who likes little boys. ZING!!! yea, thats right i went there.

so i think this is my first morning blog. the ones i posted at like 1am and stuff don’t count. basically running on two hours of sleep and 2 1/2 giant burgers within 10hrs of each other. friday night i was finally given the opportunity to visit my alma mater….joy cc that is. i was lucky enough to come at a time when Will our token white guy decided to cook up some mean burgers. i regret not taking pictures of the finished product, so you are just going to have to trust me. they were huge. i even had seconds, which i split with perry.

after carecell the subject of sunrises came about some how and it was then we decided to pursue the follow day’s sunrise.

fast forward to 1am we finally disperse and i arrive home 30min later.
2 hours of sleep…and were off again.

.fritz, edward, and myself headed off bleary eyed, but eager to see the sunrise.

i will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

as im finishing up this blog its technically the 21st, but whatevz.
so Sunday i get a random txt from mr. chris pitoyo. good thing i was doing sound system cuz he texted during the service. in my defense practice was just ending and the service had not technically started. so after a short back and forth of witty/jayus txts he came up with a splendid idea to go shoot the following day (monday). naturally i agreed to an invitation to go shoot with somebody, so i dont look too stupid with my gear shooting random objects in the streets by myself.

.pickin fruit

.today we went to dah hood....no not the ghetto, Hood River. fun timez pickin fruit and stuff. Going there alone would totally be a bore so we went with friends. Uncle Vincent's family and Ps. Victor's family. Ps.Vic is hosting international kids and brought them along, both are from China.

.after pickin cherries to our hearts content we were famished.
for lunch we stopped at the china gorge. apparently the owners are indonesian. i thought it odd that we were taking students from china to a chinese restaurant, but hey food is food.

the pineapple sorbet was delicious, especially on a hot day like today

.now that we are done with cherry picking what should we do? why go blue berry pickin' of course!

i did not take part in either activity since im a dedicated photographer :) hey, its not like i made them do all the hard work and ate the 'fruits' of their labor (pun intended).

.with blue berry picking over we headed to the Bonneville fish hatchery. having been there seeeeeveral times already i took 2 shots of the trout and i was done.

.now it sounds like a pretty full day doesn't it? oh no sir...we weren't finished yet. now what is a tourist attraction that everybody gets taken to when they first visit oregon? why Multnomah Falls of course.
i usually get the same shots over and over again, but this time i finally can get the whole falls from the bridge. i never can do that cuz i dont have a wide enough lens. as luck would have it i spotted a fellow canonite. As my new friend and i got to talking he offered to lend me his 10-22mm ef-s lens.
i now drool even more for a wide angle lens. thank you fellow canonite for the loaner...whoever you are.

.by the end of the multnomah falls stop it was time for dinner. so good old Good Taste on 82nd and division-ish did the trick in filling our bellies.

.today was a fun time with old friends and new friends.

i was so tired holding my pretty hefty 40d one handed (i cannot imagine holding it one handed with a battery pack let alone a 5d+battery pack..ouch)

.yea so just got back from the oregon vortex, pretty neat-o stuff.

im pretty tired and don't really feel like writing this post.
the mosquito bites i got from yesterday's trip to crater lake were very bothersome today.

im thinking of taking a nap first cuz the mall in medford is sooo big and i walked the whole length twice.

.so after the vortex we decided to explore Medford a bit. if you call going to the mall exploring Medford.

. the mall was so BIG that i walked its whole length twice in 7min @ a leisurely pace.

so that was my day.

.and so it begins.

awaking at around 6.30 i had breakfast along with rest of the family. the breakfast wasn't too great since the hotel we decided to stay at for some odd reason decided to skip the "continental breakfast style" and instead have different breakfast menus each morning. this morning i had the privileged of sampling their ciche(sp?) and what passed as hash browns.
in my opinion they were both EPIC FAIL though one of the kitchen staff had a fonzie hairdoo, so that made it alright....but not really.

i will just fast forward to the when we got the party started (below)

So we were off to crater lake!

For some odd reason Medford and the surrounding small towns have an obsession with DQ and Dutch bros. we passed many of these along the way.

.after a good amount of driving i snapped this stunning photograph of trees whizzing by. i assure you that only a photographer of my skill can snap said photo (above)

.arriving at the bottom of the crater, we visited the visitor center. thankfully the above photo reassured me that, YES im still in america!

. i snapped the aerial shot after we rented a helicopter. pay no heed to the edge of the table or the looming shadows of giants in the water. amazingly they actually mowed large areas and painted them white to label them for visitors who fly up.

. a group of mini cooper enthusiasts visit crater lake. there were about 10 cars total.

. yes there was still snow on the ground.

.and we arrive. pops n bro get the first shots.
you will not be seeing much of me since the pics are either on mom's camera or non existent since nobody know how to operate my camera.

. my new little friend. this little guy pretty much approached us once it saw us. expecting food we gave it some. upon review of the park brouchure it is apparently a $100 fine for feeding wildlife. lucky no park rangers were present. if there are any park rangers who happen to read this i dare you to send us a ticket! :p

.so arrived in medford like around 1pm we will depart pretty early tomorrow to head for crater lake about 70miles further. i will of course have more pictures come tomorrow night after the crater lake trip.

gps not working in the room (for obvious reasons) so no locale info available, but saying im in Medford should be enough.

i must write something today even if there is naught much to talk about. i hope to put something up every day or at least every other day. (campaign promise... lulz)

just dropped off my boss and his family to taiwan this morning. upon reading the previous sentence i realize it sounds like i drove to taiwan, which would be totally preposterous since i drove a submarine.

so now i have the rest of day to do.....nothing of great consequence.

i feel like doogie howser except the whole world reads it, and i have a way better 'puter (take that doogie!)

in actuality i have had this blog idea for ever, but i never got around to making one. i did have to use blogger for school once (photoshop class) which was pretty weird.

So my blog journey begins.
it seems i have joined a lot of new "in" things of late.
i signed up for twitter some months ago, but with lack of usage from friends that trend fell by the wayside till recently.

since the farthest place i have traveled this year is corvallis, this will not be a travel blog, but more of an outlet to release random thought i have in my brain....and also a photo blog.

my thanks to christine and sandi whose blogs finally pushed me to make my own.
will it actually be read by anyone?

who knows, there may be someone bored and random enough to actually finish reading one of my blogs.
